Pine Creek Land Conservation Trust
Pine Creek Land Conservation Trust (PCLCT) is a nonprofit conservation organization established in 1991 dedicated to the acquisition and protection of natural areas in the Pine Creek Watershed of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and surrounding communities.
Benefits of Natural Areas
Natural areas under land trust protection contribute to increased wildlife diversity, flood prevention, and clean air and water. Conservation lands provide residents with scenic areas for walking, birding, and nature study. Land donors and communities may benefit from reduced tax burdens while enhancing property values.
The Pine Creek Land Conservation Trust encourages property owners and developers in the 14 municipalities of the 65-square mile Pine Creek Watershed area to preserve undeveloped land as open space.
Land may be acquired through donations, purchase or granting of a conservation easement. Such an easement allows the landowner to retain title, but prevents development and maintains the land in a natural state.
The Trust ensures that the land will never be developed and is preserved as natural habitat available for passive public use.
Passive public use includes walking, exploring, hiking, and nature study.

Property Acquisitions
Land trusts may acquire land through donation, purchase, or the granting of a conservation easement. Such an easement allows the landowner to retain the title, but prevents development and maintains the land in a natural state. Donors of land or easements may receive tax benefits. *
PCLCT seeks land that is in a relatively undisturbed, scenic, or historic condition and is accessible for monitoring, management, and public use.
